EDMOND — With a flurry of new defense training contracts, Oklahoma City-based defense contractor DRG saw significant personnel growth in 2011.
By April 1, the company founded in 2002 by Edmond resident Phil G. Busey Sr. will have more than 600 employees. That’s compared with the 240 employees working for the company just a little more than a year ago.
That growth was merited after DRG secured more than $250 million in long-term contracts in 2011 and added another $50 million contract at the beginning of 2012.
The growth also has led the company to expand its corporate headquarters on Memorial Road in Oklahoma City, rebrand itself from Delaware Resource Group to just DRG and it is adding training locations globally. DRG now has 35 locations.
In late February, the company announced its newest subcontract award from the AAI Logistics & Technical Services to provide support services on the U.S. Air Force B-1B program. DRG will provide contractor logistics support and administrative services for the USAF B-1 Lancer Bomber aircrew and maintenance-training system. The company will have operations at Dyess AFB, Texas, Sheppard AFB, Texas and Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota, as part of this contract.
This training contract is in addition to training offered by DRG in these other Air Force programs — the F-15C, F-15E, F-16 and F-22A.
The USAF has an active inventory of 66 B-1 Bombers, according to DRG. It’s considered to be a highly versatile, multi-mission weapon system used by the Air Force since 1986.

Defense contractor AAI Logistics & Technical Services, an operating unit of Textron Systems, a Textron Inc. company, is headquartered in Hunt Valley, Maryland. The company delivers comprehensive life cycle support, sustainment and operational services for defense and security equipment.

DRG trains more than 20,000 military students annually. It is now the largest defense contractor for USAF training services headquartered in Oklahoma.
