OKLAHOMA CITY (August 3, 2022) – Recent Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) graduates Oscar Garcia and Riley Smith have completed their summer internship program at the Delaware Resource Group of Oklahoma (DRG) corporate office in Oklahoma City.
This was the second summer Garcia served as an intern at DRG. The computer science graduate performed cybersecurity research and documentation this year. Last summer, he worked on internal procurement software system upgrades and build-outs. Smith, a manufacturing engineering technology graduate, was a major contributor to DRG’s success with Digital Resource Growth University (DRGU) during his internship. Both gained broad exposure to DRG’s corporate operations as well.
SWOSU offers the program to expose students to Oklahoma’s aerospace and defense industry. The internships were funded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Space Grant College and Fellowship Program through SWOSU.
“SWOSU has an outstanding established history supporting Oklahoma’s aerospace industry, we are honored to support the university by continuing to participate in their internship program and provide opportunity for future leaders,” said Philip Busey Jr., DRG Executive Vice President and President of Commercial Entities.
Founded in 2002 in Oklahoma City, DRG has become a leading global training service contractor specializing in the aerospace and defense industry. DRG is owned and operated by the Busey family. Two of DRG’s top four executives, brothers Brian Busey and Philip Busey Jr., are SWOSU graduates.
SWOSU is a regional university with locations in Weatherford and Sayre and now offering classes in Yukon. The university serves over 5,000 students and has 14 nationally accredited programs and is nationally recognized for its online programs.
