New DRG headquarters building in Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY –Local defense contractor Delaware Resource Group of Oklahoma, LLC (DRG) announced today the construction of a new corporate headquarters. The announcement follows the land deal closing earlier in the day.

The office building will be located in the Quail Spring Corporate Park.

Bockus-Payne Associates Architects designed the 38,000 square foot facility. Oklahoma-based construction firm Smith-Pickel has been hired as the general contractor. Alan Kirkpatrick of KFC Engineering in Oklahoma City will provide the structural engineering.

DRG has grown to become one of the largest service-based defense contractors in the region. The company employs over 700 people in 42 locations across 30 states and 5 foreign countries.

DRG’s current office is located at 4747 Gaillardia Parkway and occupies most of the building and 100 percent of their leasable space.

“This new building will give us more room to grow and expand our capabilities locally,” said Phil G. Busey Sr., Chairman and CEO of DRG and the Busey Group of Companies. “We are excited to be able to continue expanding in a dynamic area and contributing to Oklahoma’s economic growth. Aerospace and defense are substantial parts of this city’s economy.”

The design of the new building was inspired by the Georgian and Federalist traditions of American architecture. The exterior will be comprised primarily of brick and stone. A prominent metal portico entrance symbolically represents DRG’s work in aerospace and defense.

“We are pleased with the design Bockus-Payne was able to develop for this new facility,” said Busey “We feel it reflects the excellence and solid reputation this company has within the industry, and we believe the building will bring more beauty to the city.”

Construction is scheduled to begin in January.

“One of the great things about being an architect to the process of getting to know a client then designing a structure that will accurately represent their mission,” said Bruce Bockus, President of Bockus-Payne. “With the Busey family, this has been especially fun!”

The class A-Plus facility will also include a simulator test bay.

“We test and prep flight simulator equipment for certification all over the world,” said Busey. “This new facility will allow for us to bring some of that work to Oklahoma.”

DRG is a family-owned business. Founded in 2002 by Phil G. Busey Sr., the company has continued to grow and expand in military training services and support. Over 45,000 military personnel count on DRG everyday for advanced training and logistics services for many of today’s military aircraft and radar surveillance programs.

Bockus Payne Associates Architects was established in 1987. The Oklahoma City firm has designed a broad spectrum of local projects including commercial office buildings and complexes; religious, education and healthcare facilities; hospitality and retail; custom residences and exhibits at the Oklahoma City Zoo.
